DIYing My Own Rings!

I am not artistically gifted in any way. I try my best and definitely think I'm creative but my execution needs some help. But one day I woke up in a crafty mood. So after a quick search on YouTube I decided to try making my own resin rings and clay rings!

I went to Micheals to get everything I needed. I bought a ring mold, resin, oven bake/polymer clay, some syringes, and I had acrylic paint, glitters, and folis at home. The ring mold is necessary if you want to make rings using resin. The two part resin I bought cost $34.99 and it came with a large bottle of each mixture. You need to mix the resin yourself in a cup so I used the syringes to get my resin from the cup into the mold. Normal resin takes 24 hours to cure so I looked into purchasing UV resin but that was super expensive for very little product. My rings actually ended up only taking around 8 hours to cure. I also looked into buying resin dye so I could color my rings, but a friend shared with me that you can use acrylic paint and it is much less expensive. You just put a drop of paint in your mix and it colors it beautifully. I also had these shiny foils and glitter that I use when I am painting my own press on nails, and I used those in my rings. Using tweezers I put them in the mold to decorate my rings! I put little hearts and stars but my favorite was the look of the gold foil in the clear resin. It made such a pretty ring!

And clay rings are really trendy now with YouTubers and TikTokers so I wanted to try to make my own. They're also super simple, all you need is clay. I had a tough time with these at first. I was making them too thin and they would fall over before I could bake them. Or I would make them too chunky and they would look weird. And I tried using a ware frame then wrapping clay around but it was too difficult to shape the wire. But after a couple hours of just playing around with it I was able to make some pretty cool rings. My favorites were a frog ring I made and a square pink one! The only trouble I had with the clay rings is they book super easily! Almost all of mine broke, and I am not sure why. It could possibly be I did not bake them long enough so I will continue to experiment with that! Overall though I really like the look.

I will definitely continue on my jewelry making journey! I found how relaxing it could be! I loved playing with the clay, I ended up sitting there for hours just making tons of rings! And the resin rings are all so unique and really look great! Definitely give making your own jewelry a shot. It is super fun!

I struggle so much with finding the right bathing suit. It's so hard to find a bathing suit that fits the way I want and is flattering. I don't like the bathing suits that are cut so low on your waist
