it's the shoes for me

I am legit the most influenceable person. But honestly, I don’t care.

I go to an all girls school and we wear a uniform but, we can wear basically any shoes we want. So, obviously when I started school I had to up my shoe game. Once I started to buy shoes I realized how much I actually love them. I started with just wanting classics then branched out to my own taste and then added some funky pairs into the mix. Now I think I have really created an awesome shoe collection. Keep reading as I talk about my favorite shoes and why I like them.

Everyone in school and on my Instagram feed has the classic Nike Air Force 1 ’07’s and I was like I need these. But I didn’t want to have the same shoes as everyone so I got these really cute holographic Nike Court Vision Low shoes. They’re super fun because they have that accent of the holographic swoosh but are still a pretty neutral pair of shoes.

My Vans are my ride or dies because they are so comfortable but really trendy! I wanted them in a light color I could wear with most things but I couldn’t commit to white because of how dirty they would get. I’m obsessed with these pure pale pink color but Vans is always dropping new collections and lots of collabs with different brands, so you can definitely find a color you love. They have a pair of cow print ones that are such a vibe. I am actually obsessed with the neon colors they have now, the green kills me, it's so sick! I also have a tie-dye pair that I love. And if slip-ons aren’t your style they have the Old Skool style which are low lace ups. I have these in all white and I like them because they are cute with a skirt so you can dress them up or with a pair of shorts and a tee. There's also the SK8-HI style which are hightops. I had SK8-HIs in neon purple a few years ago and I wore them everyday. They have other styles too, like platforms and sandals. Vans are really comfy to me but if you like more support I wouldn’t recommend them, they're pretty flat. Every style of Vans is iconic so you can definitely get away with getting a crazy color because they’ll still be classic.

My most boujee pair of shoes are my Air Force 1 High ‘07s in all white. They are really dramatic and cool and are a staple to have in the collection. I don’t wear them everyday but I definitely have a different confidence whenever I do. These actually took me a bit to decide if I liked them or not because I am the most indecisive person and when I finally decided to buy them they would be sold out. But because they are one of Nike's more popular shoes you shouldn't have to wait too long for them to restock. I ended up buying them in men’s because I couldn’t wait any longer.

Another big trend recently is the Nike Blazers but I just really didn’t like the look of them. They have a weird tongue and because I am who I am I knew it would bother me every time I wore them. I also didn't love the way the shoes are framed in suede at the toe. Because Blazers are so popular Nike is releasing tons of new colors and styles so if Blazers are your vibe definitely get a pair. Even though I don't like the Blazers I really wanted a cute more casual high-top so I was so happy when I found the Nike Court Royale 2 Mids. They are more casual than my high tops and cuter than the Blazers. I have them in white with black accents and I think they are my favorite shoes. I wear them all the time. I love the look, the back stripe down the back kills me! They don't come in as many prints and colors as the blazers but they do have some cute designs. They're also more unique than the blazer which makes them more special to me.

My Birkenstocks are a constant in my summer wardrobe. For the last several years I have always had a pair. They are so comfy and last forever. I just got this black pair in the Arizona style which has the two across the foot straps. But for the longest time I had a pair of the flip flop style called Gizeh in silver. Both are nice because you can either dress them up or just wear them casually. I feel the same way about my Rainbows. I know Rainbows are so basic but there's a reason. Although, you should know the sizing of them is super weird. I am an 8-8.5 and had to get an XL in their Flirty Braidy style. I ordered mine from Nordstromwhich offers only three sizes. The Rainbows site offers more sizes though.

My Dr. Martens are so cute too! I have a pair of the 1460 Lace Up boots. These aren't your classic Dr. Martens though. They are kind of sparkly but not glittery. These are the most edgy pair of shoes I own and are so cool. I got them in December and wore them a few times but they are more of a fall/winter shoe and I'll totally be styling them next fall! These are another pair of my not so classic classic shoes. I love the look of the original Dr. Marten’s if that's what you like but it's always fun to have something a little different.

My Oh Yeah Ugg slippers are my silliest pair of shoes. They are also my comfiest. These were amongst my most impulsive purchases. These Ugg slippers are all the rage and when I first saw them on Insta I was immediately obsessed but I was like I’ll never wear them. But then I just wandered into an Ugg store with my mom and we both agreed we loved them. I actually wear them more than I thought I would like around the house, to run errands in sweats, or with a cute fit out to dinner.

I am so bad at dressing cute but I spent a lot of time building up my shoe game. I have a lot of fun with my shoes. For the longest time I had like three pairs of shoes and never realized how important shoes are to any wardrobe. So I began to get shoes that make me happy. I am someone who loves classic, iconic shoes, but also has fun mixing it up. So for some pairs I keep with the classics and other times I switch it up and get a pair a little more unique.

Shoes are definitely overlooked as an accessory. So this post is a little reminder not to forget about your shoes. When you think you have the perfect fit, make it that much better with the perfect pair of shoes.
